Psychiatrist and ADHD assessor serving the Huntingdon area

Based in Cambridgeshire, I have been a psychiatrist for twenty-seven years and help a wide range of clients with psychiatric assessment and treatment . I provide help and treatment in the Huntingdon area, including St Ives, Godmanchester, Brampton and Hartford. These include a range of psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), and psychosis.

With structured clinical assessments covering all these issues, I make it my goal to be approachable, sympathetic and practical in terms of the help that can be offered.

You may well be one of those people who are uncertain about seeking help with their mental health. It is quite normal l to be hesitant when it comes to thinking about seeing a psychiatrist. This might be because of some negative myths associated with psychiatry, or uncertainty about what exactly a psychiatrist does.

Psychiatric treatment can provide many benefits and can even be transformative for people struggling with their mental health . For example, treatment can provide clarity about what exactly is “wrong” – because many mental health conditions are not easy to identify and pinpoint. They commonly have a variety of causes which again makes it difficult to identify a specific disorder. An appointment with a psychiatrist (a doctor who specialises in mental health and mental illness) can provide an accurate diagnosis.

An appointment with a psychiatrist may be the first step taken to work on their mental health or another step to working on themselves. By providing an accurate diagnosis, psychiatrists can develop a treatment plan tailored to the patient, that works well with the patient’s current health and mental health concerns. If followed, this treatment plan provides room for positive change and personal growth. Clearly over time it can therefore have a big positive effect on a person’s quality of life.

Dealing with mental health difficulties takes a toll on people and symptoms associated with mental health conditions negatively impact on their quality of life. Seeking a psychiatric assessment, receiving an accurate diagnosis and starting a tailored, personal plan of treatment can eventually resolve these symptoms. So, in the long term it is not an overstatement to say that seeing a psychiatrist can help you to get your life back.

A psychiatrist can provide clarity surrounding the issues you are having, assess your physical health, provide opportunities for personal growth, and in the fullness of time, improve the overall quality of your life.
