Access to further education
Many of you will have received your AS level, A level, T level, level 3 VTQs and BTECs results earlier this week. Further education offers new opportunities. This can lead to enhanced skills and increase knowledge and potentially better career prospects.
When you are a young person it may be difficult to know what you want and what to do for the best.
Determine your goals, is it for a future career, acquiring skills or of personal interest? Then chose the right course or apprenticeship for you.
Plan what you believe this may cost including tuition fees, extras like textbooks and rent. Consider also what may be loss of earnings while busy studying rather than earning, although earning potential is usually enhanced following further education. Explore all possibilities of financial assistance, such as scholarships, grants and loans.
The application process is sometimes complicated and has to be completed many months in advance. If you are going to university this autumn, you have already completed this…. Consider apprenticeships, internships, online learning and personal development.
Look at the entry requirements and ensure that you have met or will meet these in order to be offered a place.
Manage your time effectively to ensure you achieve what is required for entry and seek all resources that may assist you.
Make contact with others who can support your learning and help you achieve your goals, as well as support and advice.
Stay committed and motivated to your goals and regularly track your progress. Keep up-to-date and ensure that your study continues to be relevant.
This is going to be yours, education you have received is valuable and can never be taken away from you. This is something that can enable you to achieve amazing goals and experience wonderful times.
Enjoy your learning and the opportunities it offers you!
